As part of the Satellite Meeting on Theoretical Aspects of Pattern Formation, organised in association with the Newton Institute programme entitled Pattern Formation in Large Domains, there will be a special day of distinguished lectures on Tuesday 20th September, aimed towards describing the state of the art of the subject as well as future directions. The distinguished invited speakers will be Guenter Ahlers (UC Santa Barbara), Dwight Barkley (Warwick), Alan Newell (Arizona), Arnd Scheel (Minneapolis), and Eugene Wayne (Boston). This special day is intended for a wider academic audience and will be funded by the Institute of Advanced Studies (U Surrey).
