    Twentieth European Dynamics Days

Sunday 25th June to Thursday 29th June 2000

        Conference Details

European Dynamics Days is an international interdisciplinary conference concerned with the theory and application of nonlinear dynamics to problems in the sciences and engineering. The twentieth meeting of this conference will be held at the University of Surrey in Guildford. There will be a series of talks by invited speakers to discuss current and developing aspects of the theory, numerical analysis and applications of nonlinear dynamics. Applications to fluid dynamics, wave mechanics, pattern formation, biology, electronic and mechanical engineering (and more) will be covered. There are also slots for a number of shorter contributed talks and several poster sessions. Contributions from participants are invited and a number of these will be selected for oral presentation (see the deadlines below).

Some support for junior researchers and for those from Eastern European and former Soviet Union countries is available on application.

We would be grateful if you would use the on-line form to register as soon as possible. The important deadlines are as follows:

    October 1999 Registrations taken
17th March 2000 Deadline for submission of contributions
14th April 2000 Notification of accepted contributions
12th May 2000 Deadline for payment of standard registration and accommodation fee
23rd June 2000 Deadline for late registration
Sunday 25th June 2000, evening Start of conference
Thursday 29th June 2000, late afternoon End of conference
Registrations after 2nd June can be accommodated as space is available.

    Payment
If you would like to pay by credit card or interbank transfer, please print out this form in Word format and send in or FAX the details to us. You can also print out the form as plain text. Note that we do not have the facilities for accepting credit card details securely and so advise you not to submit them by email.

    Accommodation
Accommodation will be on the University of Surrey campus. There is a choice between standard accommodation an accommodation with ensuite shower and toilet facilities. The price of accommodation (including all dinner and breakfast, except for the conference dinner) is 40 or 50 pounds per night depending on type of accommodation. There is also accommodation (just bed and breakfast) available on the days before and after the conference at 20 or 30 pounds per night depending on type of accommodation.

There are a limited number of twin rooms available on campus at twice the ensuite room rate. Please add a comment if you would like to be allocated one of these (subject to availability). Accompanying persons pay for accommodation (including breakfast and evening meals) at the same rate as above. Alternatively you can make your own arrangements to stay at a local hotel/guest house and register as a day participant.

    Conference dinner
There will be an optional conference dinner on Tuesday night. You can book this using the on-line registration form.

    Sponsorship
We are happy to acknowledge sponsorship by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council of the UK) and the LMS (London Mathematical Society). The EPS (European Physical Society) has approved this conference as a `Europhysics Conference' of the Statistical and Nonlinear Physics Division. The EPS can provide some funds for participants from eastern europe under the East-West task force fund: see http://www.fzu.cz/ewtf/ for more details of how to apply.

There are funds available to subsidise registration, accommodation and meals for some participants, but not travel. Preference will be given to students, junior scientists and scientists from Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union. Details of how to apply are on the on-line registration form.

There are also especially earmarked funds for research students studying at UK universities provided by the London Mathematical Society. These will provide a reduced registration fee and are available on a first come, first served basis.

    Registration fees
Registration fees are now GBP 120 per delegate or GBP 70 for students. This includes lunch, tea and coffee, abstract book and the wine reception on Monday evening.

    Payment and refund policy
On registration you will be sent a letter confirming the details of your requested contribution and asking you to pay the full amount as soon as possible. This can be done by cheque, bankers draft, VISA etc (see Payment above). If you cancel before 10th June we will give you a refund of 60 percent. After 10th June we regret that we cannot give any refunds for cancellations.

    Visa requirements
Note that you may need a visa to attend this conference if you are not an EU national.
