In its broadest interpretation, the subject of Applied
Mathematics is situated somewhere between pure mathematics and the subjects where quantitative models are relevant: the natural, life and physical sciences, engineering, economics, finance and sociology, for example. In practice, applied mathematics is continually looking to pure mathematics for new paradigms and methods and is continually looking to applications for new problems that require mathematical representation. A central area in this evolutionary process is Nonlinear Science, which puts an emphasis on nonlinearity in the design and analysis of models for phenomena. The Chapman & Hall/CRC Press series on Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Science aims to publish developments in this area.

The main areas of interest in the book series are nonlinear PDEs, applied analysis, chaos and dynamical systems, adaption and self organization, pattern formation, computation linked to nonlinearity.
